It's "tag heaven" at HCNW! It's not the least bit unusual to hear groups of men and women singing tags every evening, between classes and during meals. Don't be shy about it; ask them to teach one to you, too!
Don't know any tags? Need to learn "tag etiquette"?? Want to know how to TEACH a tag? Here are those details, as well as some easy tags to start with, courtesy of Darwin Scheel:
You can also find some tags from the Barbershop Harmony Society here!
| From Adrian..."Doesn't matter whose tagline you use. This exemplifies 'Harmonize the world', 'Keep the whole world singing' or 'Singing for life'." |
A big focus of Harmony College Northwest is singing (you'd think
we planned it that way!). Whether it's tags, the "camp song,"
having one of the visiting quartets sing a number, or just ringing
some chords with friends, music reigns supreme.
For 2011, we featured four songs: our national anthems, The Star Spangled Banner and Oh, Canada, plus two songs emblematic of both organizations, How We Sang Today, and Keep The Whole World Singing.
For the songs you might not already know, we had sheet music and learning tracks ready for you to print and download. Students were given the link to these once they registered and PAID IN FULL for HCNW (either by check or through PayPal) . "Section rehearsals" of the song were held on Friday afternoon.
In addition, sheet music is available upon arrival to purchase for the men’s polecats and several SAI standards--so you can grab three of your newest best friends and sing away!
PDF files of copyright-free songs will soon be available to use
during the weekend. You will be able to print them out and use them during
Harmony College NW. A list will be posted as soon as clearance has
been obtained for all the numbers, so check back often.
Additionally, we plan to have both the US and Canadian National
Anthems available!
Also offered this year: we will have the BHS Barbershop Polecat Books available for sale ($4.50). If you don't have a copy, but sure to pick one up!
